About Blooms and Butterflies
Using floristry and craft-based face to face sessions to promote people’s mental health and well-being in small group sessions.
My early childhood memories revolve around making rose petal perfume and arranging flowers cut from my grandparent’s garden. This started my creative journey in life, I have always loved making and creating with the materials around me.
I resumed my floristry journey in 2019, with a very traditional and commercial style. However, whilst completing my FdA in Floristry design I have learnt to be very resourceful using my interest in willow structures and to adapt my new skills and techniques to inspire my designs.
Throughout the course of my degree, I have been inspired by various designers, with both Klaus Wagner’s and Moniek Vanden Berghe’s use of natural materials within their designs encouraging my style. Moniek’s delicate and feminine style has inspired my love of pastel and neutral colours which I prefer to use within my work.
My creative research project during my BA top-up focused on the huge positive impact that both flowers and plants have on our mental health and wellbeing. My plans for the future revolve around promoting this by delivering demonstrations and workshop sessions within my home based studio.
